Halo reach: Defiant Map Pack coming in March

Its been a long while since we’ve heard about the updates regarding the Halo Reach franchise. The last DLC for this sequel which was the Noble Map pack was certainly exciting on some extent but we all know in the gaming world, players have this trait of getting bored too easily and you can count me in for that!

Coming from the gamingsphere, this new leak was unearthed and it appears the next map pack will be called as “Defiant”. According to this French-based website, this Defiant Map pack would be the latest DLC for Halo Reach and it would contain three new battlefields namely: Condemned, Unearthed and Highlands.

Windows Phone 7: 2 Million licenses sold to manufactuers

Microsoft just dropped a few statistical points of knowledge  regarding Windows Phone 7’s performance in the marketplace so far. Here’s what was released

I’d buy this for a dollar!

With Microsoft now targeting the family market you have to wonder why they haven’t made a Mario Kart-esque type game, sure you have Joyride for the Kinect but sometimes you want some good-old split-screen controlled racing action. Well it seems Indie developer Rendercode Games has beat’em to the finish line with their new title Avatar Karting.

Halo Reach: Noble Map pack Review

Even though the Halo Reach popularity has had a slight drop off, the first map pack for Halo Reach has given the Halo community a shot in the arm well needed. Apologies for the late review I had planned on just giving impressions, but I found myself  loving them and sinking more time into these maps than I anticipated. I also wanted to play multiple sessions, with multiple game-types to really test the balance of game play for each map, so with out further adieu here’s the review.

Get Rewarded with Xbox Live

Some may or may not remember before the Xbox 360 launched Microsoft announced that the achievement system and your gamer score would work as a platform for gaining points, games, or content from xbox live. Well, 5 years, a test pilot (about one year ago) and a $10 price increase later we have the Xbox live Rewards Program.

Delightful Downloadable Deals

Like many other gamers and geek aficionados I’ve had the “wait & see” mentality concerning buying DLC, games, and movies this year. It seems as though everything gets replaced, sequalized, or clearance so quickly there is no need or advantage to purchase early (unless you have a special interest in something, like Mass Effect lol). Well due to Thanksgiving weekend once again Microsoft and Sony are slashing the pricing on a lot of there digital content which will all be offered good through November 29th.

Five reasons for NerdRage!!

With so much going on with everything right now theres a lot of good stuff coming out, at the same time there is a lot of crap things happening in the world of geek.  I have a few lists on the go at the moment but this seemed to be the easiest so here goes.

Number 5:

World of Warcraft – Cataclysm

This falls under both good and bad, if you have played the game consistently at each level cap since the start of WoW you will have really seen the game evolve.  With so much controversy surrounding Wrath of the Lich King the WoW universe has never been so split,  How will Cata come across to the masses?  Will it be as charitable to the annoying 12 years olds as WOTLK was?  Will it be as much of a grind as Vanilla?  Personally I am hoping for it to be more like The Burning Crusade as that was the most enjoyable time in game for me where noobs were noobs, no one pugged end game content and there was a clear structure at max level.

Halo Reach Max Rank cap lifted

Not to long ago it was posted on Bungie.net that once the Halo Reach community reached (no pun intended) 117 million daily/weekly challenges completed, that the max rank cap would be lifted. It was reported that sometime in the month of November Bungie would remove the cap that shows Max rank once you obtain the rank of Lt. colonel grade 3. Some have endlessly been watching the ticker on bungie.net that has be quickly approaching the finish line. Well Halo fans the wait is over

Co-Op gaming and me

I’ve been gaming for a long time. I started by when I was 3 years old. I would play the original Nintendo Entertainment System or NES. I of course was young and had help from my father a lot. So I basically started out playing games Co-op. Taking turns on Super Mario bros 3 mostly.  Later I would get a Sega genesis and my half-brother would move in with us and away from his dad. We would play Sonic all the time playing as Sonic and Tails. Then I got Zombies Ate My Neighbors. This game really did co-op right and it still holds up on the Wii virtual console/ original Genesis version.

My next big step in gaming would be when I got a PlayStation 2 or PS2 at launch. I would play the Tony Hawk Pro Skater games(PS1 versions till they released them on PS2) as well as Tekken, Ready 2 Rumble and others. I remember mostly playing single player games on the PS2 and that’s when I slowly and surely stopped playing games. Between lack of Co-Op games and Jr. high/ High School I stopped playing video games all together. Right towards the end of High School I picked up a used PS2 slim with Guitar Hero and Killzone. I instantly fell in love with Guitar Hero(which I eventually migrated to Rock Band). I remember a friend telling me I could hook my PS2 Slim to the internet and play Killzone online. It was amazing. I soon bought a USB headset and ended up joining a Clan in Killzone. I hear a lot of people bash on Killzone, but to me it was my first taste of Online console gaming, and I was hooked.

When High School was said and done I ended up getting myself a Xbox 360. And I soon started playing tons of Co-op games with a friend via splitscreen. Some of the first games I played was Army of Two, Rainbow 6 Vegas 2,Spider-man Friend or Foe and Halo 3. Then I found Talkingaboutgames and eventually started this site and the podcast associated. Lately I’ve been continuing my Co-Op gaming with games like Left 4 Dead, Left 4 Dead 2, Borderlands, Halo Reach, Gears of War 2 and a few others.

Needless to say I wouldn’t really be gaming much without co-op gaming. Although I do play single player games I prefer Co-Op if I have the choice. That said feel free to hit me up on Xbox live sometime if your interested in Co-Op gaming. Gamertag= Poeticsoul444

Hulu Plus is on the way

Well, it’s finally come. There are now reports that Hulu plans to launch a subscription service in the near future. It’s been rumored for months, but now there’s confirmation. The subscription will cost $10 per month, and will be rolling out to select users as early as later this month. Obviously, if people are going to be paying for this, they’ll want more content, which is why Hulu is reported to be in talks with CBS, Viacom, and Time Warner to add their shows to Hulu’s already sizable catalog. Along with the traditional computer environment, Hulu claims to have options in the work for iPad and, as rumored, video game consoles, along with set-top boxes. Could this herald the end of cable television as we know it? It’s already happening to music purchasing and movie rentals, what’s stopping it from happening to television as well? We live in the internet age, and it seems that cable providers either need to recognize that and form some kind of counteroffensive, or embrace obsolescence.

UPDATE: It’s been all over the place for the past couple of days, but now it’s officially confirmed. Hulu Plus membership invitations will start going out gradually over the next couple of months, starting now. For $10 a month, Hulu’s prepared to offer you an extended catalog that will be available on iPad, iPhone, and select television services. There will also be a PS3 version rolling out in the next few months (possibly exclusive to Playstation Plus subscribers), as well as an Xbox 360 version available to Gold membership subscribers sometime in early 2011.
