Brink: Free DLC and updates on the way
Splash Damage is planning to give their multiplayer shooter Brink a face-lift this summer. They’ve got free DLC and title updates planned for the coming weeks.
“Agents of Change”, the game’s first DLC, will be free for two weeks through Xbox Live, PSN, and Steam. If you download the content during that time period, you’ll be able to play it forever for no charge. However, after those two weeks have elapsed, you’ll need to shell out money for the DLC. The price wasn’t disclosed.
Sony and Microsoft have yet to sign off on “Agents of Change” but Splash Damage expects it to be released in early July. “Agents” adds two new environments, two outfits, five player abilities, and two weapon attachments. Here’s a run-down on the new content:

Black Ops Map Pack 3 ANNIHILATION?
Recently this rumored promo flier was leaked on the Internet. It is for none other then Call of Duty Black Ops. This is the 3rd map pack that is rumored to be named ANNIHILATION. ANNIHILATION says we will be able to “INVADE HANGER 18, ATTACK AT THE DRIVE-IN, INFILTRATE THE SILO, ESCAPE THE HAZARD, and OBLITERATE THE ZOMBIES” And the rumored release date is 6-29-11. With less then 2 weeks away hopefully we will see an official announcement. I am hoping we see another trailer that shows off the maps. Below is a video where you can see the promo flier a bit better. Till we hear more we just have to enjoy the Black Ops that we have now.
You Don’t Have to Choose a Side with your Star Wars Keyboard.
OK so E3 happened. But what you probably haven’t heard is Razor is making Star Wars: The Old Republic gaming hardware. A keyboard, a mouse and mouse mat, and a headset. Each one can be changed from Republic to Empire, so you don’t have to choose whether you want to walk the path of the light or give into your anger and go Sith.
Why Sony needs to have a UMD transfer system for PS Vita
This article is based of the recent FAQ that Sony put up regarding the Playstation Vita, in it Sony stated that it is considering a UMD transfer system though there aren’t any plans yet. Sony needs to come up with something.
The PSP Go was a resounding failure, it had potential but even in PSP crazy Japan the system struggles to sell more than 300 units per week while the PSP 3000 regularly beats every other system in terms of sales. Ignoring the other downsides to the PSP Go, I believe that the reason the adoption rate is so low is because people have a stack of UMDs that they have accumulated over six years that they simply don’t want to get rid of, or can’t because of the financial implications involved with replacing all of those games.
Take the launch of the PS3 as an example, the fact that it essentially had a PS2 built into it made the $600 price tag a lot easier to swallow because people already had a stack of games to play on it regardless of what the PS3 launch games were.
Certain PSP games may even have support on Vita for twin analogue sticks making the jump to a PS Vita not dissimilar to the HD up-scaling of PS2 games on the PS3.
So if people have a big collection of UMD based games that will be enhanced by Vita when played on it why wouldn’t somebody consider a UMD transfer program as a HUGE incentive to buying one at launch, particularly if Sony made it very clear that it was a limited time offer.
This isn’t me thinking “Crap I have a ton of soon to be useless UMD games” because I don’t. I got a PSP, for the second time, after Vita was announced so I have been careful to buy all my games digitally and I would only like my UMD copy of Final Fantasy IV to be playable on the Vita. If Sony were to announce that all UMD games can be swapped for a digital copy within three months of Vita being released then I would be much more liable to buy a Vita at launch in order to transfer over my one game. Imagine the millions of people with 10+ UMD games that are looking for that added incentive to buy a PS Vita.
A question of fingertips
I have a reputation for being biased of Nintendo. Though I’ve owned an NES, GameCube and a DS throughout my life as a gamer, I’ve always sold them in favor of a more perceived mature product.
That being said, I won’t overlook the fact they have been a driving force of innovation in the gaming industry for years. They’re not afraid to try new things regardless if they are adopted by gaming fans or emulated by their peers.
When it was leaked a successor to the Wii would be announced at this years E3 which would be on par (if not better) with current HD consoles and would use a more traditional control scheme, I was excited. Finally I might be able to experience a few first party titles with third party publishers on board to cater to my more mature gaming interests.
Then the Wii U was announced. I went from excited to downright perplexed. Now that I’ve had a few days to familiarize myself with as much information as I could find, I’ve come to the conclusion this product may not be right for me.Â
Ruin may come with Vita and PS3 copy
One of the most exciting things to see come out of E3 was Ruin. Ruin, a Dungeon Crawler game, was shown of the PS Vita. It was also said that you were able to save your game save and transfer it over to play on your PS3. This has been want Sony and Many others have wanted for a long time now. True integration with a handheld and a console. A big question is “Will we need 2 copies of the game to play this way?” And the Ruin guys said Its up to Sony if they want to charge for two copies. With their aggressive pricing of the Vita has me thinking we will see only being charged for 1 copy.
Another interesting point they brought up about the PS3 and Vita is Co-Op. They said it is possible to create a multiplayer game where one buddy plays a game on his PS3 and another on his Vita. This Co-Op aspect is very interesting and I hope we see games created to do this. The Vita is looking to be a game changer.

Onlive is having a crazy deal. If you buy any game that is $10 or more you get a choice of a few goodies. You get a coupon for 100% off towards another game, an onlive game system, or an onlive wireless controller. This seems like a great way and cheap way to give Onlive a try. Â I plan on taking advantage of this deal. And the deal ends Saturday 1 A.M. PDT so you still have a few days to take advantage of this.

Sequels in Gaming
Sequels for video games seems to be the majority of video games coming out. In the upcoming future we have Modern Warfare 3, Assassin’s Creed Revelation, Uncharted 3, Far Cry 3, Mass Effect 3, Infamous 2, Halo 4, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and Gears of War 3 are just the first ones that come to my mind. I probably could go on and on but I will leave it at that for now. Fans of each series are looking forward to a new game but other like myself are a bit weary.
