Darkness II: Confession Comic for Free!
2K Games and Top Cow Productions have teamed up to produce a free comic book tie-in for The Darkness II. The Darkness II: Confession will be distributed to indie comic book stores worldwide on May 7th, Free Comic Book Day.
Confession is a 32-page comic that serves as a prequel to The Darkness II. It introduces players to Jackie Estacado, a hitman that wields a supernatural force known as The Darkness. The comic chronicles the events of the first game and then sets up the sequel. Free Comic Book Day is an annual event in which select comic book shops around the world give away comic books to customers for no charge. This is the tenth year of the event, which is held on the first Saturday of every May. Top Cow is a Silver Sponsor of Free Comic Book Day 2011.

Overlooked – Shadowrun
In what I hope is a bright idea, I’ve decided to write several pieces on overlooked or underappreciated games that I believe deserve your attention. As with everything I write, these are just my opinions, so feel free to post your thoughts in the comments below. I’m hoping to roll out several of these in the coming month or so, if all goes according to plan. Anyway, I’ve chosen to start this off with what I would call the best multiplayer shooter of the past five years: Shadowrun. Hit the jump to learn why you shouldn’t have passed it by.
3DS Video Review Extravaganza!
As many of you will know I have been anticipating the 3DS launch for a few months. The fact that we Europeans get it a whole two days before you unlucky Americans meant we at GeeksFTW have taken the opportunity to have a somewhat casual video review of it before the American release. I will be covering the 3DS a lot this weekend so that any of you who are still on the fence about it can get some more info.
Please enjoy the video (Sorry about my cold) and let me know if there is anything else you’d like me to cover about the 3DS.
Side Note: Despite what I say in the video about the 3D being “gimmicky” it is actually very good. I’ve had more time with it since then and it really does add to the game. At least in Street Fighter anyway.
Duke Nukem Forever Delayed Until June 14
Did anyone really expect a game like Duke Nukem Forever to ship when people said it would? Not that I wasn’t hoping it would, but it always just seemed…right that DNF should be delayed one last time. Gearbox has pushed the decade-in-the-making game back a month and a half from its original May 3rd release date for a currently unknown reason. However, I’d have to imagine that it’s fairly significant. Gearbox has seemed very intent on making this date. However, they’ve put out a video to tide you over until the game launches. Oddest to me about this is that the international release date is now 4 days prior to the North American launch, as opposed to the original plan to go international 3 days afterwards. I’m a tad disappointed that DNF won’t be launching on my birthday, but c’est la vie. I can wait a month and a half more.
The Age of Dragons Have Indeed Begun
Dragon Age 2 took what was good about the first one and threw it away and made some things much better but a so took some of the mundane out. For instance, the new leveling up system is way faster and easier to use. If you like getting into numbers and theorycrafting that is still there, while letting to people who don’t, like it just the same. One of the biggest things missing was a deeper backstory for all the companions. In Origins there was the camp that the player visited after every mission where he/she could learn almost the entire life’s story of the companions, sadly this was lacking in Dragon Age 2. There were the occasional side missions that lead into dialog with the companions but not as much as some would have liked. The gift giving system was almost completely removed. Only one gift could be given to a companion and that certain gift was sometimes really hard to find, if found at all.
