If you’re a sci-fi/fantasy fan and you’re a reader then you’ve probably run across the Tad Williams series of books called “Otherland’. There are 4 books in the series and the majority of the story takes place inside of a “virtual world”. I’m sure that I’m not the only person who has wished that such a virtual place existed to explore.

Good news.

In 2012 Otherland will be released.

Episode 55- Remakes and Sequels Rant

We are back yet again. Well 2/3 of us are back. Henry took a week off for his Anniversary and we Hope he had a great one! The show must go on, and that it did. Stuart and myself(William) talk about their week as well as movie remakes/sequels and if they should or shouldn’t happen. We also have a few voice-mails we played and talked about. The Geek is in full force in Episode 55! Once again be sure to pick up our android app. The android App includes special bonus content that can only be found on the android app or you can tune in to our live show. Know Your Space Explosions!

Every now and then I’m reminded of how much of a geek I am. Last week was one such occurrence. I was watching a movie on VHS with a friend and there were previews. Not remembering what year the movie came out or what previews would be shown I was interested. The first preview showed a second or two of an explosion in space and without thinking I blurted out the name of the movie that I knew it was from. That’s right, I identified a movie from a single space explosion. Correctly.

That’s led me to wonder how many of my fellow geeks know their space explosions just by glancing at them. So I’m going to post up a few and challenge your knowledge. No cheating by using Google or other search or reference engines. Fire up your geeky brains and see how many you get correct! (answers are at the bottom of the post!)

The Waiting Game for BBC’s Sherlock

Wrong by JollyJack

Think you'll see Sherlock this fall?

If you haven’t heard the news, you might want to break out your tissues now.

Sherlock won’t be airing series 2 until 2012.

This change was announced at the end of the re-airing of “The Great Game” on BBC. I know, I know. I got all teary as well when I read the news on Den of Geek. Still, you can’t fault them too much. They’re working around “The Hobbit” production schedule and you know they want to make each of the three 1-1/2 hour episodes as excellent as possible.

Instead we’ll have to content ourselves with re-watching the first series, perhaps alternating it with episodes of Jekyll. What will you be doing while waiting for new Sherlock to hit the airwaves?

Star Trek 45th Anniversary Creation Con – One Trekkie’s Musings

Elf and the Klingons

Elf and the Klingons

This past weekend I had the chance to attend the 45th Anniversary Star Trek Creation Convention here inNashville (Thanks again, Cass!). Considering that it’s been at least 11 years since I’d been to a Creation Con (back when I was still blonde) I was curious and excited to attend. For the past 7 years the conventions I’ve attended have been along the lines of Dragon*Con and GMX. From what I remembered about the Creation Cons I went to inSan Francisco, I knew it wouldn’t be anything like that but I was still looking forward to seeing the differences.Â
