Could Steam be finally coming to the Xbox?

It has been a dream of the online gaming community to play together no matter what video game system you play which it be Xbox 360, PC, Mac, or even PS3. Steam has been trying to convince the console manufacturers to make that possible. Portal 2 allowed PC players to play with PS3 players, and Shadow Run allowed Xbox 360 players to battle against PC players. Will we ever be able to finally fight this 3 way battle that has been years in the making?

The Age of Dragons Have Indeed Begun

"You will die for what you did to Mother"

Dragon Age 2 took what was good about the first one and threw it away and made some things much better but a so took some of the mundane out. For instance, the new leveling up system is way faster and easier to use. If you like getting into numbers and theorycrafting that is still there, while letting to people who don’t, like it just the same. One of the biggest things missing was a deeper backstory for all the companions. In Origins there was the camp that the player visited after every mission where he/she could learn almost the entire life’s story of the companions, sadly this was lacking in Dragon Age 2. There were the occasional side missions that lead into dialog with the companions but not as much as some would have liked. The gift giving system was almost completely removed. Only one gift could be given to a companion and that certain gift was sometimes really hard to find, if found at all.

Halo reach: Defiant Map Pack coming in March

Its been a long while since we’ve heard about the updates regarding the Halo Reach franchise. The last DLC for this sequel which was the Noble Map pack was certainly exciting on some extent but we all know in the gaming world, players have this trait of getting bored too easily and you can count me in for that!

Coming from the gamingsphere, this new leak was unearthed and it appears the next map pack will be called as “Defiant”. According to this French-based website, this Defiant Map pack would be the latest DLC for Halo Reach and it would contain three new battlefields namely: Condemned, Unearthed and Highlands.

Windows Phone 7: 2 Million licenses sold to manufactuers

Microsoft just dropped a few statistical points of knowledge  regarding Windows Phone 7’s performance in the marketplace so far. Here’s what was released

Halo Cryptum: Chapter one In its Entirety

“There are those that said this day would never come, what are they to say now”. If your as big of a Halo fan as I, or if you follow any of Greg Bear‘s writings then you know that Halo Cryptum (the story of the Forerunners) has been released and is on sale. If you aren’t or never heard of Greg Bear feast your optics on the first full chapter of this new Novel based in the Halo Universe right now.

I’d buy this for a dollar!

With Microsoft now targeting the family market you have to wonder why they haven’t made a Mario Kart-esque type game, sure you have Joyride for the Kinect but sometimes you want some good-old split-screen controlled racing action. Well it seems Indie developer Rendercode Games has beat’em to the finish line with their new title Avatar Karting.

Gamers, get off the controller crutch

In light of the recent motion gaming releases such as the Sony Playstation’s Move and Microsofts Xbox Kinect the internets have been set a-blaze in regards to whether or not these pieces of technology are the next  push forward in interactive gaming. As Geeks, and its culture alike you would think we would want a more innovative step towards total immersion, yeah…. not so much.

Gears of War 3 pushed back to Fall 2011

Well, I had a feeling this was coming. Gears of War 3 has been officially delayed to Fall 2011, and not for any legit reason. Microsoft had this to say:

“Gears of War 3 promises to be the biggest entertainment launch of 2011,” the Microsoft statement reads. “The teams at Microsoft Game Studios and Epic Games have done great work thus far readying the title for release in the Spring of 2011. However, we’ve elected to move the launch of Gears of War 3 until Fall 2011 to make it the marquee title for the holiday season.”

If the game needed more time for development, sure. But just because you’re missing an A-list title for the holiday season? The first half of the year is usually pretty dull, as far as game releases go (though that trend seems to be on its way out, what with so many games being pushed back to early 2011), so it was nice to see a company willing to release a big-name title sometime other than the fall. But, it couldn’t last. Microsoft saw how great Reach was selling, and decided that GoW 3 needed to be in that slot for 2011. Am I disappointed? Sure. Hopefully this gives Epic time to improve some stuff, which is always nice.

But really, I’m just bummed that I have to wait another half-year to find out whether Clayton Carmine will live or die. Ah well, c’est la vie.
