75 Hours and Counting: My Thoughts on Skyrim
So, in case you’ve missed all of the commercials and high praises from the bulk of the gaming community, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim came out on 11/11/11. Now, a week and a half later, I finally feel like I’ve put in enough time with this game to form a complete opinion on it. The thing you need to realize is that this is still a Bethesda game. The combat is definitely improved over Oblivion, and the conversation system is a lot less formal, but this is still a game from the guys that made Oblivion and Fallout 3. Much of the game is spent wandering around the Nordic province of Skyrim, completing quests and discovering various forms of dungeon. If those mechanics weren’t your bag before, I’m not sure that they will be now. Along with that, you’ll have to put up with a little bit of sandbox wonkiness and some goofy stuff that goes on. But, if you’re still interested, then read on and find out why I’m still itching to play more after 75 hours.

Star Wars MMO finally gets a release date
The most anticipated MMO, Star Wars: The Old Republic, has finally set a release date. The people at Bioware and EA kept saying the game will be out before this financial year ends, which end in March 2012. But some of us at GeeksFTW (me) kept saying that it will be out this holiday season. Well the MMO will be on store shelves, both physical and digital, on…..
Could Steam be finally coming to the Xbox?
It has been a dream of the online gaming community to play together no matter what video game system you play which it be Xbox 360, PC, Mac, or even PS3. Steam has been trying to convince the console manufacturers to make that possible. Portal 2 allowed PC players to play with PS3 players, and Shadow Run allowed Xbox 360 players to battle against PC players. Will we ever be able to finally fight this 3 way battle that has been years in the making?
Are you ready to enter Otherland?
If you’re a sci-fi/fantasy fan and you’re a reader then you’ve probably run across the Tad Williams series of books called “Otherland’. There are 4 books in the series and the majority of the story takes place inside of a “virtual worldâ€. I’m sure that I’m not the only person who has wished that such a virtual place existed to explore.
Good news.
In 2012 Otherland will be released.
From Dust Review
The hits keep coming in this years Summer of Arcade with From Dust by Ubisoft Montpellier (XBLA 1200 MSP). Designed by Eric Chahi, From Dust puts you in the role of The Breath, a force called upon by a nomadic tribe that's able to harness the elements to aid them in their search of the ancients. From a first person view, you control a swirling cursor that is able to pick up earth, water and lava to deposit elsewhere. You can then create paths or remove obstacles for your tribe so they may venture to build villages or gather totems that allow protection from natural disasters or to augment your skills. The main goal is to lead your tribe to the next gateway so they can settle on new islands, each with their own challenges and environmental dangers.
