For those of you who didn’t get a chance to see, here is Jason’s winning recipe:

Unicorn Tartare
2 teaspoons brined capers
3 teaspoons Dijon mustard(pardon me do you have any gray poupon
2 large phoenix egg yolks
10 ounces unicorn tenderloin, cut into small dice, covered, and refrigerated
2 tablespoons finely chopped red onion
2 tablespoons finely chopped parsley leaves
4 teaspoons olive oil(oil not woman please note)
3 dashes hot sauce
4 dashes Worcestershire sauce

Directions
Combine  capers, and mustard in a nonreactive bowl. Using a fork or the back of a spoon, mash ingredients until evenly combined; mix in phoenix egg yolks.
Use a rubber spatula to fold remaining ingredients into mustard mixture until thoroughly combined. Season well with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Serve immediately with toast points or french fries.

  1. lol, wow… “ok, now accpeting votes for the next 12 minutes…and…stop.” But seriously, less than 24 hours? I don’t really care if I win or not, it just seems like bad planning…

I mean, talk about a missed oppertunity to have your blog emailed around and posted on twitter/facebook for all my like minded gaming geek friends to find. Contest was a killer idea… having voting open for a microsecond was a horrible idea.

  2. Well, the big concern was making sure that I let everyone have enough time to get their entries in. I did leave those open for a full week. And voting was open for a full day (I understand about folks having to work and such…). Next time I’ll open voting for a couple of days but not much more since my poor inbox might not be able to handle it. 🙂

Don’t worry…I plan to do more contests. I’m thinking about offering up a pair of Star Wars Lightsaber Chopsticks as the next contest prize.

(and sorry Jason, my personal vote was for the Mythical ULT. No offense to your awesome Tartare!)

  3. IMO you would have got a ton more links to your blog (Not to mention made the context fun instead of irritating) if you would have left the voting open for like, a week (and posted who is in the lead – to keep people competitive, we are gamers after all).

To save you some inbox pain, two tips: 1. Get a free “Vote” script that requires people use their email address to verify only 1 vote per person. You don’t need to know code – just how to copy and paste. and 2. If you use “Mailto:” you are asking for spam. Bots search the web for that little bit of HTML to farm email addresses. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to go edit it out of your past blogs.

  4. To Nitsujcm: Looks like you have some good suggestions, and know what you’re talking about. Ever thought about joining The GeeksFTW team? If so be sure to send us an email. I do have to agree that more time for the contest would have been better but there will be more contests to come. I personally have a few I’m thinking of doing. Once again we thank you for your feedback!
