Defy Gravity Game Review

I want to first state that the lead developer for Fish Factory Games, based in New Orleans, contacted me and Provided me with a review copy of the game. With that said I will give my full and honest opinion about this game in this review. There are some good and some bad. And now I present my review.

The game is priced at $4.99. You get 16 levels and when you beat those levels you unlock hard mode that takes away certain features away from the original mode.

The game feels like a cross between Braid, Mega Man, and Portal. The game is very addicting. I found myself playing just one more level until I finished the original mode and then halfway done with hard mode.

The gameplay consists of using a gravity gun. You jump from platform to platform and when you can’t you use the gravity gun to suck you in the gravity well and while your in the gravity well you are able to recharge your jetpack and move forward from there. There are anti-gravity wells too. You use the two to get through the levels. There are multiple ways to get through a level. My way of completing a level will most likely be different than your way. There are also moving objects that can kill you, but you don’t have to restart the level. When you die they spawn you back to the last main jump you made off of the ground.

The original 16 levels seemed a bit short to me(maybe because I kept playing it in one good sitting). but it is still a good deal for $5. I did die a few times in different levels because there were a bunch of challenging sections in the game that required trial and error(for me at least). I would highly recommend this game to any fan of Portal, Braid, or Mega Man as well as platformer/puzzle fans. The game also supports a wired Xbox 360 controller in the options. It works great with a wired Xbox 360 controller. Right now the game is only available at http://www.defygravitygame.com/ but there are plans to be on steam(Possibly this month) and on Xbox Live(they are aiming for end of February). I highly recommend you check out the demo at the site posted above and get a feel for the game yourself. My only complaint is it seemed a bit short, but there is still the hard mode that double the game. I am glad I was able to review this game. I look forward to what more Fish Factory Games has to offer in the future. If you want to see what the game is like without the demo I will post the trailer for the game below. And finally I would give this game a 9 out of 10 so check this game out!
