Halo reach: Defiant Map Pack coming in March
Its been a long while since we’ve heard about the updates regarding the Halo Reach franchise. The last DLC for this sequel which was the Noble Map pack was certainly exciting on some extent but we all know in the gaming world, players have this trait of getting bored too easily and you can count me in for that!
Coming from the gamingsphere, this new leak was unearthed and it appears the next map pack will be called as “Defiantâ€. According to this French-based website, this Defiant Map pack would be the latest DLC for Halo Reach and it would contain three new battlefields namely: Condemned, Unearthed and Highlands.
Halo Reach: Noble Map pack Review
Even though the Halo Reach popularity has had a slight drop off, the first map pack for Halo Reach has given the Halo community a shot in the arm well needed. Apologies for the late review I had planned on just giving impressions, but I found myself loving them and sinking more time into these maps than I anticipated. I also wanted to play multiple sessions, with multiple game-types to really test the balance of game play for each map, so with out further adieu here’s the review.
Halo Reach Max Rank cap lifted
Â
Not to long ago it was posted on Bungie.net that once the Halo Reach community reached (no pun intended) 117 million daily/weekly challenges completed, that the max rank cap would be lifted. It was reported that sometime in the month of November Bungie would remove the cap that shows Max rank once you obtain the rank of Lt. colonel grade 3. Some have endlessly been watching the ticker on bungie.net that has be quickly approaching the finish line. Well Halo fans the wait is over
Halo Reach Review
Tuesday, September 14, one of the most anticipating games of all time was released, Halo Reach. Over half a million players were logged online playing this game only hours after it hit the store shelves. Reach sales ‘reached’ over $200 million on just that first day.
Halo Reach takes place just before the events of the first Halo game. You are the new Noble Six in Spartan Noble Team. A position that the rest of the team would rather not be filled. The rumor is that a live action trailer that was released just before the game was the final events of the previous Noble Six. As the new Noble Six you quickly prove that you are defiantly qualified for the slot.
A lot of specific information is in my review of the Halo Reach Multiplayer Beta. It that review I go into detail about the new weapons, how the game physics has changed, a couple of the new armor abilities, and even the new mutilplayer modes. The features that has changed are a couple new armor abilities. Drop shields is one such new ability, which acts just like the bubble shield from Halo 3. Another of the new abilities is the hologram, the hologram sends out a copy of the player in a straight to the point that the player picks.
The campaign in Reach starts out with the player joining Noble team and immediately sent out investigate what at first thought are rebel attacks. By the end of the first mission the player learns the dreadful truth at Reach is being invaded by the Covenant. Now if you know anything about Halo lore, you know what’s going to happen to Reach. Most Halo fans know the big events of the Fall of Reach but this campaign delves into the smaller unknown, but still important events. After finishing the campaign stay until after the credits there a bonus at the end, like in all Halo games.
The firefight mode is a blast to play. Spending hours playing with four friends is the only way really to play firefight. Competitive multiplayer is no slouch either. Playing 16 player free for all and watching one player fall off a forge remake of lockout, chasing a hologram is what makes games like this worth playing.
The new forge world is the most genius map Bungie could have made. It’s insanely large map to be used in forge to make many different types of maps. One area in the map is a large valley and the landscape is a copy of Coagulation and Bungie went a head and did what every one would want with that and made the Blood Gulch bases. Another area is a large pillar made of earth and with the structures available, in Forge, Bungie remade Ascension. The forge world ends with a hanger-like area inside a cliff.
(I am issuing a challenge, to make a working map that includes every area of Forge World. Once done please send the map to me. I so want to play a map like that.)
I recommend this game to anyone who has played and likes the other Halo games. For someone new to the Halo franchise I would start with Halo 1, although that person could start with Halo Reach and be fine.
September=Awesome!
We had so many great games, movies and so much more come out at the beginning of the year. So much that I’ve heard people wonder if the 2nd half would be able to deliver the goods. Well I’m going to give you a quick glimpse of whats coming out in September. I believe this is probably the best month of the year for entertainment and here is why:
Theater Releases
Machete– Sept 3-What started out as a spoof trailer for the movie Grindhouse has become a highly anticipated movie.
Resident Evil:Afterlife-Sept 10- I know most gamers think these movies are horrible, but if you can step away from the games and look at it as just a movie they are enjoyable. This one is the 4th in the series and is suppose to use the same 3D cameras that made James Cameron’s Avatar a unique visual experience.
Blu-ray/DVD Release
Killers-Sept 7- I cant personally say much about this movie. It looks to cater the female audience more then male.
MacGruber-Sept 7-Yet another comedic Spoof movie. Though it didn’t look good enough to see in theaters I’m sure it will be a decent rent and maybe it will be on Netflix Instant Watch soon
Letters to Julliet-Sept 14-Again this is another movie that would attract the attention of the female audience.
Prince of Persia:The Sands of Time-Sept 14- Yet another video game movie that has been thrashed with bad reviews. This is another movie I plan on renting to see how it is for myself.
Robin Hood– Sept 21- What was suppose to be Gladiator 2 ended up turning into another movie about the one and only Robin Hood.
Get Him to the Greek-Sept 28-A summer comedy that kept getting great reviews from word of mouth. I for one am looking forward to watching this.
Iron Man 2-Sept 28- The Sequel to one of the best Comic book movie adaptations. Personally I enjoyed it and look forward to adding it to my collection
Music
Kid Rock-Born Free-Sept 7
N.E.R.D.-Nothing- Sept 7
Linkin Park– A Thousand Suns- Sept 14
Weezer-Hurly- Sept 14
Maroon 5-Hand All Over- Sept 21
Ne-Yo-Libra Scale- Sept 21
Doobie Brothers-World Gone Crazy-Sept 28
Ice Cube-I Am the West- Sept 28
Jimmy Eat World-Invented- Sept 28
Video Games
Borderlands DLC-ClapTrap’s Robot Revolution– The release date isn’t clear, but it has been said to release in September. This will be the 4th dlc for the popular co-op shooter/RPG and is said to be the biggest yet.
Spider-Man:Shattered Dimensions-Sept 7- I know the latest Spider-man games haven’t been the best, but this one looks promising. I’m most excited about the story of it and how the 4 different spider-men will play out.
Cabela’s North American Adventure-Sep 7- I know you might think this is a joke. Its true that odds are you and I are not going to be interested in this game but apparently these games are selling well since they keep releasing them every year.
Halo Reach-Sept 14- Say what you want about Halo, fanboys, and whatever the facts remain that Halo is one of the most popular multi-player gaming franchise
Playstation Move-Sept 17- Again odds are not a lot of us “Hardcore” gamers will be picking this up, but this is a big release in the gaming industry. It will show whether or not motion control gaming will work on the “Hardcore” consoles.
Sid Meier’s Civilization V-Sept 21- Seems like this has been one of the highly anticipated PC game to come out this year. The series has a big following and a reputation for being a fun RTS.
Dead Rising 2– Sept 28- Zombies Zombies Zombies. Lots of people are tired of Zombies. Well I think they will make an exception for this game. Not much to say,but its a sequel to one of the best Zombie games of this console generation.
Plants Vs Zombies-Sept 28- This of course is the Xbox 360 version of the crack like addictive game from Popcap. I have already purchased this on PC and iPod Touch. This will make 3 different versions of the game I have purchased. Safe to say I am probably not alone.
Final Fantasy XIV– Sept 30- I personally am not too excited about this, but I know lots of people are looking forward to this MMO. This is just the PC version. If there is a free trial I will most likely give it a shot, but it is a popular franchise so had to mention it
Overall this month is going to be really good. There is a large variety of entertainment options for everyone. Good thing September is just around the corner.
