Sequels in Gaming
Sequels for video games seems to be the majority of video games coming out. In the upcoming future we have Modern Warfare 3, Assassin’s Creed Revelation, Uncharted 3, Far Cry 3, Mass Effect 3, Infamous 2, Halo 4, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and Gears of War 3 are just the first ones that come to my mind. I probably could go on and on but I will leave it at that for now. Fans of each series are looking forward to a new game but other like myself are a bit weary.
I have some problems with Gaming Sequels. Its a bit tough for people to jump into the franchise when they have already have 2, 3, or even 4 games already out. Â There is not much time to go back and play all those games as well as newer games. I have a couple of solutions that could fix this problem and help Developers get new people into their franchise.
1.Have a cutscene at the very beginning of the newest game that explains what all has happened in the past. The important stuff that is needed to know in order to understand the story of the new game sequel.
2.Come out with a comic(s) that explains the story. If the game is big enough to have a sequel or possibly more then I’m sure a comic would sell nicely. It would also be a good pre-order bonus or collectors edition item as well.
3.Animes can be another good option. Giving people a way to watch the story seems like the best thing.
These are just a few ideas. Basically I am just ranting and hoping companies come out with a solution to help people jump into a franchise when without playing the first couple games. I for one am guilty of not jumping on other games and now there are games with  3 or 4 after the title and it is all a bit upsetting. Anyways what do you think? You have a solution?
