Yes, you heard right. The first full-length trailer for Captain America: The First Avenger has been released by Marvel, and I’ve gotta say that it’s looking mighty slick. Aside from that 30-second Superbowl spot, there hasn’t been a whole lot of actual footage, just a bunch of stills from the set. But tonight, the first theatrical trailer has been released on Youtube for all the world to see. Hit the jump for the video and my impressions.
There we have it. To me, the biggest thing to note here is that the film seems to be mostly, if not completely set before Steve Rogers gets frozen in ice. We see some of the run-up to Steve getting recruited to the Super Soldier program by Colonel Phillips (played by Tommy Lee Jones, who gets a lot of face-time in this trailer). There’s also the briefest glimpse of Hugo Weaving pulling back his fleshmask and revealing his true Red Skull self. One cool thing to note is the presence of Howard Stark during Steve’s Super-Soldier-Serum injection. Howard Stark, of course, is Tony’s father seen in Iron Man 2 at a much older age.
But enough about my thoughts. We want to know what you think. Does this trailer make you more excited? Less excited? Drop us a line in the comments.
