If you’re a sci-fi/fantasy fan and you’re a reader then you’ve probably run across the Tad Williams series of books called “Otherland’. There are 4 books in the series and the majority of the story takes place inside of a “virtual worldâ€. I’m sure that I’m not the only person who has wished that such a virtual place existed to explore.
Good news.
In 2012 Otherland will be released.
Well, it’s actually just a free to play MMO and like other games it has quests and you can die and so on. It’s not really “virtual†but instead is like World of Warcraft in its interaction. The folks at IGN have the details as well as an interview with publishers of the game!
I have to admit that I’m totally hooked after watching the trailer (check out the IGN article if you’re curious about it). Guess this is one MMO I won’t be able to stay away from!
